MBB Racing Stable is owned and operated by Mike
Burgess, since 2006. We are primarily stabled in Louisiana
year round, but also race outside the State of Louisiana.
Born on April 19, 1968 to Jerry and Georgia Burgess, Mike
became the 3rd generation within his family to carry on the
tradition with a strong passion and dedication to the sport of
horse racing. Mike began his career at the age of sixteen as
a quarter horse jockey, competing at race tracks in
California, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. He continued his
twelve year jockey career until 1996, due to weight, height
and injuries. Ending his jockey career, he obtained an
assistant trainers position for Jack Van Berg. He continued
his assistant trainer’s career over the next few years with,
“Bubba” Cascio, Kenny Smith and Steve Asmussen.
In March 2005, as an experienced horseman and a solid
background in racing, Mike obtained his trainers license.
Mike’s first win came at Louisiana Downs with “Go Texan”,
a colt on July 28, 2005. Mike has continued successfully with
numerous stake horses stabled with
